Mr. Sun Ying was born
in the April, 1929 in Nerhe county, Helongjiang Province. His
hometown is Hebei Province.
In the year of 1950,
he enrolled in China Central Drama Institute, Dance was his major,
his mentor was Professor Xiao-bong Wu,very famous at that time.
In the year of 1952,
he graduated as the best student, and was chosen to study Drama
Dance in the Chinese Classical Dance Group;
In the year of 1954,
again he enrolled in the Training class for the Dance Teachers,
after graduation, he assigned as Chief for the Beijing Dance School.
In the April , 1957,
he was labeled as " Rightist" ( the reason was he against
the ideas to eliminate the Chinese Classic Dance
instead of Russian Ballet), then being kicked out from his career,
and sent to the North-East part of Boarder area for " Reform
".
At the year of 1979,
he was back to Beijing as the Editor for the Column of Ancient
Dance History in the Chinese Dancer'Association.Finally in the
year of 1981, he was allowed to be back to the Beijing Dance Academy,
former Beijing Dance School.
The Beijing Dance Academy
assigned him for the position in the Library, during this period,
he created the Dance Drama ----"Golden Sparrow Girl ",
performed by the Chinese Song & Dance Theater at the year
of 1985.
1983, he was reassigned
as dean for the Dance History, just in few months, he resigned,
and worked in the Dance Science Section.
1989, he retired ,
back home to study the Chinese Classical Dance.
1994, he immigrated
to US, during that time, he finished "Chinese Ancient Dance
Theory".
1994-1996, he created
the Dance for the TV series: " The Emperor of Tang Dynasty",
" Three Kingdom";" Si Ma- Qian" and "
The root of Ancient Chinese ".
1997, he created the
Dance Drama " Worship to Ancient Chinese " which performed
by the 97 ' graduates of Beijing Dance Academy.
1999-2000, he created
the Dance Drama named " The Elegance of Dragon"
2002, he was invited
by the " Chong Qing University " to establish the Dance
Department as dean.
2001 summer, Beijing
Dance Academy invited Sun Ying to establish the Han-Tong Dynasty
Dance section,
and Sun Ying is the
dean.
